It consists of four principal components; the detonator shell at the bottom which when triggered catapults the bomb out of the Fat Man launcher, four stabilizer fins to ensure a stable trajectory, the hemisphere screwed on top containing the nuclear core, and the beryllium contact fuse which triggers the nuclear reaction on impact.
